My early childhood was a nomadic one while my family followed my father's career. We lived in Europe and several states of different regions in the U.S. My adult life is definitively Southern, having lived in Tennessee, Alabama and currently, Florida. I consider myself a Southern artist, but without putting a value judgement on this description other than to explain where my observations and inspirations come from. There is a rich cultural and complex dynamism to the Southern states nesting within each other, like a Russian Matryoshka doll, each Southern state is distinctive in its "southerness". The people and the visuals are endlessly interesting to me.
Whereas my portrait art is mainly an oil/pastel painting, I love it all. Oils, Acrylics, pastels, clay: separately or mixed, in combination with found objects or in their pure forms.
